April got the best of us.
Lauren came down with her first cold,
which required a trip to the doctor.
Thankfully it was just a little virus and we were all clear to travel to Iowa,
which lead to packing and lots of planning for traveling with a toddler.
While Lauren has her fair share of airline miles,
flying with a toddler is a whole different strategy.
Thankfully our bag of tricks worked and Lauren did terrific.
We flew in to Kansas City and stopped by to see Matt's grandmothers.
We had a wonderful long weekend in Iowa, the kind where you manage to see and spent quality time with so many people you love that your heart just feels like it could burst.
That kind of wonderful...

...dinner dates with friends...
...and first kisses with Jackson...
... Cane's birthday celebration...

But it doesn't end there.
We made our way back to Kansas City to take Lauren to her first Royals game.
We spent the afternoon with the Brown family and made our way to 'The K' where Lauren and Papa discussed all things Royals baseball...
... including an introduction to the greatest Royal ever, George Brett.
Grandpa also told her the story of how she earned the nickname, 'George'.
We had a great time at the game,
which included some quality time with Grandma & Grandpa...

I've been busy retrieving the pieces of my heart that burst all over the midwest last week.
