Caroline's Nursery

If you follow this blog,
{or what's left of the erratic postings}
you know I was fairly sure baby #2 was a boy.

We've dedicated one room as the nursery
{since it's the only room on the same floor as the master}
and maintained a pretty neutral esthetic that could work for both boy or girl.
In my certainty that this baby was a boy,
I picked up things here and there to help welcome a baby boy home.

As we all know now, I was wrong.
Again.

While the nursery had some feminine touches from Lauren's residency,
I wanted to make sure that Caroline had her own room.
So from my hospital bed I got to work on Pinterest and Etsy, sending photos through group text with my mother and sister.

Since the nursery was being decorated after the birth, I felt like I had the opportunity to go a little more feminine than before.
Floral.
Pinks.
Lavendar.

Welcome to Caroline's nursery...

My mother and my sister were a huge help and completed the floral C before we arrived home from the hospital.

The floral balls were a labor of love worked on by my mother, Matt's mother, and myself. Lots of time, conversation, and a little bit of wine. A pretty special memory.

Those natural wood frames I picked up for baby boy worked perfectly in Caroline's floral inspired nursery.

Of course I still have a couple items remaining on the nursery to-do list.
I am waiting on a canvas I ordered and I have hopes to make some different curtains,
but right now it's just a sweet little space for our sweet baby girl.

And really,
if I had to describe Caroline in one word it would be sweet.

So, really,
it's just perfect for her.

Lauren's Big Girl Room

While Lauren has been in her Big Girl Room for a couple months now, I am just now getting around to sharing it.
I  thought I may never get to share it when trying to deal with our crazy daybed debacle, but in the end it all worked out.

It's still a bit of a work in progress.
There's a few shelves that remain empty and some spots that are waiting for the perfect Lauren-approved item,
{you saw the cow picture right?}
but we're happy with how it turned out and are even more thrilled with how much she loves it.
She can often be found reading books or putting her dolls to bed, and sleeps through the night.
Finally.
This didn't happen in a crib.

Now the nursery is referred to as the 'baby room'.
The traces of Lauren are slowly being removed ,
while empty frames and freshly washed blankets make their way in
for a new little baby to make all their own.

Grandparents Visit & Lauren's Big Girl Room Progress

Last week my mom came to visit
{hence my lack of blog posts}
to spend with week with Lauren us & help with Lauren's big girl room.

It was a busy week full of activity, two doctors appointments, gymnastics, swim lessons, lots of puzzles, books, dollies, and even some walks.
In between the hustle & bustle we managed to do some painting, stenciling, and shopping.

Papa* joined us on Friday and the fun continued. Lauren soaked up every moment of having her grandparents visit and Matt and I even snuck in dinner and a movie.
The last movie we saw in a theatre I was days out from my due date with Lauren.

*Last summer while visiting my parents we said something to Lauren about Grandpa. She responded with Papa. And she's been saying it ever since.

{Lauren fell asleep on the way home from lunch and we realized that we hadn't got a picture of her with both Grandma & Grandpa}

We're still working on Lauren's room.
We made a lot of progress while my Mom was here and probably should have made more.
But we didn't.
Because we're still waiting on the bed.
The bed that I ordered and was supposed to be here before my mom arrived.
Still waiting.
Which puts a bit of a pause on our project.
But it's been fun to decorate a gender specific room and so far it's turned out even better than I imagined.

While we await the bed, I continue to look for all the perfect 'Lauren-like' details for her big girl room.

And then when it's all put together, we move the big girl to her new room
I'm thinking about October, after her birthday?

And that will be fun too....

Right?

Here's part two of our house tour.

I have to admit looking at these photos make me want to
choose some paint colors now
figure out what to put on these walls,
and make some progress.

house tour || living space

I really enjoy looking back at photos from our first home in Beaumont, so I thought it would be fun to document the adventure of making this house a home.

There are also two more selfish reasons I choose to do this:

1. When I get overwhelmed and frustrated with how much needs to be done, it's a good reminder of how far we've come...
I should have taken pictures from move in day.

2. Taking pictures makes design issues blatantly obvious.
Please see above.

In November...

Since I blog about once a month now*...
I thought it would be best to sum up November with some pictures.

Without further ado,

This solution makes me happy & if you send a Christmas Card our way, I've got the perfect spot to showcase it}
